How to Tell If Your Baby Has a Food Allergy?
A baby who has a food allergy usually the body treats the foods as intruders and discharges an attack within the immune system. Often the body will create antibody known as IgE, this protein that can easily determine food. Once the food is taken again, this antibody will allow your baby’s immune system to discharge substances such as histamine to fight the “intruder”. Keep in mind that these substances causes’ allergy problems and it might be a minor of severe case.
Some of the signs of food allergy are swelling, hives, or breathing problem that occurs after a minute to 2 hours after the food consumption. A baby who has a critical allergic reaction is considered a life-threatening case. Other symptoms of this adverse are eczema, GI problems such as diarrhea or vomiting. There is also the possibility that the baby will show reaction to the food even if the food is already eaten before showing no problem. For example, if the baby is allergic to eggs, there might be no reaction on the first few times eating an egg but symptoms may already show up. Sometimes it is not also good to expose the baby in some combination ingredients such as milk, eggs or nuts in a cookie.
Once your baby is showing signs of allergic reaction to food, you must be always ready when this happens. Do not ignore this allergy even if the first is just a mild reaction because you might not be sure that the next reaction will be serious already. The baby’s doctor can give action plans such as guidelines in proper managing an allergic sensitivity. Another recommendation might be an epinephrine auto-injector, which you may bring with you for your baby. The doctor will give you instructions on how to use these devices that looks like magic markers and automatically control the exact dosage of the epinephrine to prevent allergic reaction.
